Checking Your Application Status in the United States  

We are eager to get you on the road as quickly as possible, and most members are approved and can book in minutes. Here’s how our application process works:

  • We will verify your driver’s license and identity, which typically takes only a few minutes, but in some cases, it may take a little longer. If we need further information, we'll reach out to you via email. Once you’re approved, download the iPhone® and Android™ app to book a trip, access vehicle location details, and unlock and lock your vehicle.
  • We will also mail you a Zipcard, which is an access card to any Zipcar vehicle you reserve. It takes up to 5-7 business days for the Zipcard to arrive. Until your Zipcard arrives, make sure to only book cars and trips where your cell phone have good connectivity.

Checking Your Application Status in Canada

While we are eager to get you on the road, there are a few things that need to happen before you can begin booking Zipcars:

  • We'll need to review your driving record which typically takes a day, but in some cases it may take a little longer. Once you're approved (or if we need further information) we'll reach out to you via email.
  • You'll also need to activate your Zipcard before you can book and drive. We'll mail you one shortly after you're approved. It takes up to 5-7 business days for the Zipcard to arrive USPS First Class mail.
