What are the policies for disabled members?

The Zipcar membership contract is a vehicle-sharing service subscription contract between Zipcar and the Member. All members are required to accept and comply with the terms and conditions set forth herein. By accepting the terms and conditions of the contract and using Zipcar's services you accept and agree to comply with the terms and conditions of the contract, as it may be amended from time to time.

Schedule 4, Services for members with disabilities constitutes an integral part of the contract.

  • Advanced notice of 72 hours of desired use of hand controls.   Will try to accommodate within 48 hours, if not sooner.  Notice must be given at 1-866-4ZIPCAR.  As with all reservations, requests for vehicles are subject to vehicle availability.
  • Service animals are an exception to Zipcar's rule of requiring pets in a carrier.  However, member is still responsible for any costs associated with any damage caused by service animal.
  • If member self identifies as disabled, we will not charge the $3.50 assistance fee for reservation-related activity.
  • Members have an option of a household account if disabilities prevent them from driving, they can have one person drive for them.
