Hourly and Daily Rates
The hourly rate is the base cost when reserving a Zipcar and the daily rate is the maximum reservation cost for a 24-hour period. Sometimes it will be cheaper to pay the daily rate than the hourly rate even if you aren't using the car for the whole day; we will automatically charge you whichever option is less expensive.
Keep in mind that the daily rate doesn’t necessarily mean you have the vehicle for a full day; you’ll still need to return your Zipcar by the end of your reservation time.
Many cities have a promotional overnight rate for reservations between 6pm and 8:30am, Monday through Thursday nights. You can book at any point during these hours to get the discounted rate. If the hourly fee is less than the bundle, you'll be charged the lesser of the two rates.
The overnight rate varies depending on the vehicle and location, and our system will automatically charge the lowest available rate depending on the length and time of your reservation.
Please note that if you scan into your Zipcar before 6pm or extend your reservation beyond 8:30am, the overnight rate will no longer apply. In addition, if you were to book a 24-hour period that included the overnight duration you would not be billed at a discounted rate during that part of the reservation; rather at the prevailing daily rate.
We have some cars that can only be reserved by the hour. When the daily rate isn't listed or appears as "N/A" on the reservation page a day rate isn't available.
Hourly and daily rates may vary due to discounts, availability, holidays, or other factors. Other fees may apply. You may review your total estimated reservation cost before you confirm your reservation.
