How can I purchase damage or liability protection on my trip?

Insurance coverage can be purchased in a couple of different ways, depending on what protection you are looking for.

Subscribing to Damage Protection
If you would like to purchase a recurring damage protection subscription, this can be done by following the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your Zipcar account
  2. Click on My Account at the top of the page and select Account Settings 
  3. Click on Damage protection
  4. Select the insurance protection level you would like
  5. Click Update protection

Purchasing Damage or Liability Protection per Trip
If a subscription isn't your thing, you can also purchase our damage and liability protection on a per-trip basis. When creating your booking, you will be asked if you would like to purchase any additional insurance coverage upon checkout.

  1. Sign in to your Zipcar account
  2. Search and select a vehicle to book
  3. Select the insurance coverage you would like

Keep In Mind

  • If you are driving on a business account, only the business admin or owner is able to configure the damage protection coverage
  • Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) is currently unavailable for members driving on a business account
