How do I signup for the Uber Rent program?
There's no need to sign up to join the Uber Rent program. Zipcar vehicles will be available to book directly in Uber’s Vehicle Marketplace.
I'm already a Zipcar member, can I join the Uber Rent program?
Yes, you can. Your Zipcar membership is not connected to Uber.
How old do I need to be to join the Uber Rent program?
Drivers must be 25 years or older.
Are there any start-up or recurring costs to joining the Uber Rent program?
There are no application or membership costs associated with the Uber Rent program.
How much does it cost to rent a Zipcar in Uber Renter program?
The cost to rent a Zipcar can vary; we recommend visiting the Uber Vehicle Solutions site to see current rates.
Can I use the Uber Renter program to drive for Uber Eats?
Uber Rent is only for personal driving.
Booking & Driving
How many miles are included in my Uber Rent reservation?
U.S. Mileage: 200 free miles per 24 hours, plus 20 extra miles for each additional hour (up to 200 miles/day).
Canada Mileage: 200 free kilometers per 24 hours, plus 20 extra kilometers for each additional hour (up to 200 km/day).
Is EV charging or fuel included in my Uber Rent reservations?
EV charging is covered by Zipcar - use the charge card placed in the visor to pay for electric charging costs.
The cost of fuel (in our limited internal combustion engine & hybrid feet) is covered by Zipcar.
A fuel card may be provided in the vehicle for this purpose. If the fuel card is missing or not functioning, Zipcar will reimburse you for the actual cost of fuel if you pay for it yourself
How much EV charge or fuel should I return my car with?
EVs should be returned with at least 20% charge.
Internal combustion engines & hybrid vehicles should be returned with the same fuel level as the start of the trip, at least 1/4 tank.
Vehicles not returned with the expected charge or fuel levels are subject to additional fees.
Account Management
Can I add Additional Liability Insurance to my Uber Rent booking?
Additional Liability Insurance is available for Uber Rent reservations.
Can I add Damage Protection to my Uber Rent booking?
If you're age 25+, and have had no Zipcar accidents in the past 12 months, you are eligible to purchase damage protection to eliminate the damage fee. Purchasing damage protection won't change your insurance coverage, it just changes the maximum amount you'll be charged if you're involved in an incident with your Zipcar.
Damage protection plans can be purchased per trip and rates may vary.
How does insurance work?
Renters participating in the Uber Rent program are covered by Zipcar physical damage insurance on the Zipcar vehicle while driving a Zipcar. In the case of an incident, renters are responsible for a damage fee of up to the first $2,500 of damage to the Zipcar vehicle, and all further Zipcar vehicle damage is covered by Zipcar insurance.
The damage fee can be reduced or eliminated with the purchase of optional damage protection coverage.
Zipcar insurance also includes secondary third-party liability coverage and, where required, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or "no-fault" coverage. All third-party liability and PIP coverage meets the minimum requirements of the state or jurisdiction in which an accident occurs, and coverage is only available after a member has exhausted any other applicable coverage.
